GREATER GLASGOW HOTEL ASSOCIATION

WHO WE ARE

Jamie Stevens, General Manager of the Village Hotel in Glasgow, and Janice Fisher, GM of Ibis City
Centre Glasgow Hotel have been appointed Joint Chair of Greater Glasgow Hoteliers Association and
Majdi Orifij, General Manager of Ibis Budget Hotel Glasgow will work closely alongside Fisher and
Stevens in his new role as Treasurer. Now firmly ensconced in their new roles, Fisher, Stevens and Orifij plan to build on GGHA’s success with an ambitious agenda of objectives which include continuing the strong partnerships with GCMB now part of Glasgow Life and collaborating with Glasgow Welcomes and Tennents Training Academy to ensure all hotels have targeted training opportunities for the talent of the future and Glasgow Ambassadors. The new leadership team firmly believe ‘People Make Glasgow’ so, to make sure Glasgow’s welcome will always be one to remember, Stevens and Fisher have launched a new scheme whereby future training for GGHA Members can be either free or subsidised.
Jamie Stevens notes; “Membership fees will be used to offer eight free courses per year. GGHA members will also be offered discounted rates for additional courses booked through Tennants Training Academy, thereby, supporting a local firm which offers bespoke training facilities specifically for hospitality professionals. The Training Academy is also a great supporter of initiatives to help unemployed people find work and GGHA will be partnering with them in securing placements.”
Janice Fisher adds; “We are also keen to foster closer links with other bodies of influence including the City Council, GCMB, Visit Scotland and the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, so that end GGHA has established sub committees to ensure a constant focus on key relationships that benefit not just hotels, but Glasgow as a whole.”
